About This Event
Ever dreamed of owning a guitar designed and built by you? In this unique, hands-on seven-week workshop, students will learn the art and craftsmanship behind electric guitar making with guidance from an experienced Gibson guitar maker. Students will choose from two guitar body styles, design and cut their own headstock, and personalize their instrument with their choice of stain and finish to create a guitar that reflects their individual style.
Throughout the course, students will develop practical woodworking, construction, and technical skills as they learn about fret leveling, pickup installation, electronics wiring, guitar assembly, and instrument setup. They’ll see how the many individual components come together to create a working electric guitar while gaining an appreciation for the craftsmanship behind these iconic instruments. Best of all, each student will take home their own finished electric guitar at the end of the seven weeks!
No musical experience is required! Students do not need to know how to play guitar—or any instrument—to participate. Whether they’re interested in music, woodworking, engineering, or simply building something extraordinary, this workshop offers a rare opportunity to create an instrument that is truly their own.
